  • As both a pet parent and a veterinarian, I can confidently say that Veterinary Surgery of Chicago is an exceptional addition to the pet and veterinary community. My dog, Bogart, means the world to me, and trusting anyone with his care is never easy — after all, I'm a veterinarian myself, which makes me both the best and worst type of pet parent. From the moment we arrived, however, Liz, the Client Care Specialist, put me completely at ease with her warm welcome and bright smile. Bogart's surgical team, including Cos (Veterinary Technician) and Dr. Wosar (Surgeon), were nothing short of outstanding. They took the time to thoroughly explain each step of the process, ensuring I was both comfortable and well-informed throughout. Their professionalism was unmatched, and the compassion they showed not only towards Bogart but also towards me, truly set them apart. The entire experience was seamless, transparent, and stress-free. I cannot recommend Veterinary Surgery of Chicago enough — they are an invaluable asset to the veterinary community, and I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional care they provided for my beloved Bogart.

  • "Dr. Wosar has been a trusted surgery referral partner for years. He takes a thorough approach to diagnosis and treatment planning and takes the time to communicate clearly with both our GP veterinarians and the pet owner, ensuring everyone is well-informed and comfortable with the surgical process. I am constantly impressed with his skill as a surgeon and clients are always very happy with his explanations and communications."

  • We had an excellent experience at Veterinary Surgery of Chicago with Dr. Rebecca Ball and her team. My cat was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma, and we went through a full treatment process at this clinic — including a CT scan and surgery. Although Dr. Ball initially explained that the CT might not give us clear results, I still wanted to proceed, and I appreciated that she supported my decision. Based on the scan, she performed surgery to remove the tumor, and even my local vet said it would be very difficult to achieve clean margins — but Dr. Ball did an incredible job. The biopsy confirmed that the tumor was completely removed, and we were told this level of clean margins is quite rare in cases like ours. The healing process went very smoothly. The incision closed up beautifully with dissolvable stitches, so we didn’t need a second visit for suture removal. The clinic also sent us home with everything we needed for post-op care. One of the things I appreciated most was their transparent pricing policy — after the initial consultation, they provided both a lower and upper estimate range, and the final bill stayed within that range. Everything was very clear and professional. I also want to highlight how well the clinic coordinated communication — they sent all necessary records to the oncology center, to my local vet, and to me as well. As someone whose first language is not English, I’m especially grateful that they were willing to communicate via email in addition to phone calls. It made everything much easier for me to understand and manage. While it’s possible that my cat may still need additional treatment in the future, since this type of cancer can return or spread, I truly feel that Dr. Ball did everything possible from a surgical standpoint to give us the best chance. I sincerely hope we won’t need more treatment — but I’m very thankful for how far we’ve come already. Dr. Ball and the entire staff were kind, professional, and patient throughout the whole process. The clinic itself is beautiful — clean, modern, and welcoming. I’m very thankful for the care they gave my cat, and I highly recommend this clinic to anyone needing specialized veterinary surgery.

  • My girlfriend and I were recommended to Veterinary Surgery of Chicago after we found out our dog Pepperoncini had a tumor on her paw. I have to say the people here are amazing. Their communication with us was great, letting us know what was happening at each step of the evaluation process, from the biopsy to the procedure. When we took Pepperoncini in for the first time, the office manager and technicians were incredibly nice and empathetic. This is really important to us because Pepperoncini is afraid of the vet and of anyone touching her paws. They did a great job calming her and treating her. When the doctor gave us the options, he did not pressure us on any way, but gave us a detailed explanation of the situation, risks, and options. He even recommended we do the surgery with his fellow doctor at VSX since he would be OOO and so we could get Pepperoncini surgery as fast as possible. The office manager was so professional and friendly, giving us quotes and making the charges as transparent as possible. For my girlfriend and I, they made us feel comfortable and supported throughout a very stressful event. After surgery, the team kept communicating with us during post-treatement and made it hassle-free. Thank you VSX for making Pepperoncini cancer-free and for your care of not only Pepper but for us humans too.

  • I'm incredibly grateful to have found Dr. Wosar and his team. My 12-week-old puppy had two broken bones in his front paw, and as you can imagine, I was overwhelmed and distraught. Megan was compassionate and got us scheduled for a same-day consultation, which was a huge relief. When we arrived, Liz and Megan were warm and welcoming, helping us get settled right away. Monse brought such positive energy that it truly lifted the mood and made a tough situation feel a lot less heavy. Thank you, Megan, Monse, and Liz - you’re all amazing! Dr. Wosar was thoughtful, thorough, and clear in explaining the treatment options. He laid out both a primary and backup plan, which gave me confidence in the care my pup was receiving. My puppy walked out the same day with a splint, and I walked out feeling reassured and hopeful. Thank you all for turning a difficult day into one filled with support and kindness - for both me and my pup.

  • My pup Archie was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor and had two other growths that were also of potential concern. Our vet recommended VSx and Dr. Wosar and at that first consult I knew we were in the right place. We knew we had to have the mast cell tumor removed but there were various ways to approach the other growths, each with different risks and costs. With Dr. Wosar's guidance we made a decision for our approach that seemed medically sound, pragmatic with regards to Archie's risk and experience, and cost effective (because even though we have insurance, they never cover everything). Not only did I feel very comfortable with our decision for how to proceed, but every staff member who interacted with Archie was very kind and patient with my fearful pittie. It helped me know that he was comfortable and loved, even during this scary time when I couldn't be with him. The surgery went smoothly and we got the best outcomes possible from the biopsies as well! I'm so thankful to Dr. Wosar, Liz, Cos, and Megan for taking such great care of Archie!
