Dr. Jefferson Nunley

DVM, DACVS-SA

VSx Nashville Surgeon

Dr. Jefferson Nunley, DVM, DACVS-SA, has dedicated over a decade to learning, practicing, and sharpening complicated surgical procedures, making specialty care accessible to pets that would not otherwise receive it. Born and raised in Durham, North Carolina, Dr. Nunley graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Returning to Durham, he worked as an assistant in a mobile veterinary surgical practice, which cemented his goal of becoming a veterinary surgeon. He went on to earn his DVM from the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011, followed by a one-year small animal rotating internship at Michigan State University. Dr. Nunley then completed a three-year small animal surgical residency at the Animal Medical Center of New York - the oldest and largest veterinary hospital in the country - where high-volume exposure to state-of-the-art orthopedic and soft tissue procedures helped him hone his particular interest in orthopedics and surgical oncology.

After completing his residency in 2015, Dr. Nunley moved back to Nashville, Tennessee, to join his wife and children, and opened Tennessee Veterinary Surgical Specialists, his mobile specialty surgery practice.

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Nunley can be found at a football game, preferably the Titans or Duke, with his sons. He and his wife, Abby, enjoy traveling with their four children, Phebe, Byrne, Locke, and Crews, or simply taking in some quality lake life at their home on Tim's Ford Lake.
