Dr. Erik Clary

Dr. Erik Clary has over 30 years of clinical experience in small animal general and orthopedic surgery. He holds his DVM degree from Kansas State University and trained in small animal surgery first at the University of Georgia and then North Carolina State University. Post-residency, Dr. Clary was recruited to Duke University Medical Center, where he served for many years as a researcher working chiefly in the field of minimally-invasive surgery. Concurrent with his work at Duke, he founded a mobile veterinary surgical referral practice that operated in Raleigh-Durham, NC, for over 20 years. Prior to joining TVSS, Dr. Clary served five years on faculty at Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine, teaching small animal surgery (general and orthopedic) to veterinary students and serving in OkSU's Boren Veterinary Teaching Hospital. There, his surgical expertise and compassionate care for pets and pet owners were twice recognized on the national stage with intense media coverage of two patients ("Milo" and "Siggi"), which also earned high honors within the ACVS in 2019 for him and his OkSU colleagues. Dr. Clary is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS).
In his spare time, Dr. Clary is active in church life and enjoys music, particularly piano and guitar, as his main hobbies. He is married to Ashlyn and has one child currently studying veterinary medicine at the University of Georgia. The family shares their home with two cats and two dogs, all rescues.
